More than a month after publiclyĀ announcing his intention to run for Maryland governor in 2014, Harford County Executive David Craig has picked his running mate.

Craig will tapĀ DelegateĀ Jeannie Haddaway-RiccioĀ (R-Eastern Shore) as the candidate forĀ lieutenant governor in his bid for the 2014 ticket,Ā according toĀ The Washington Post.

Haddaway-Riccio was appointed to the House of Delegates in 2003Ā by then Gov. Robert Ehrlich. SheĀ has sinceĀ served in positions including Minority Whip and leader of theĀ Women Legislators of Maryland.

Her district includes Talbot County and parts of Wicomico, Dorchester and Caroline counties.

At a special meeting of Maryland RepublicansĀ in April, Haddaway-Riccio stepped down from being Minority Whip, stating:Ā "...I have ambitions to seek higher office in the near future and I also have a growing business to run,"Ā according toĀ DelmarvaNow.com.
Ā
Haddaway-Riccio owns a business calledĀ Dragonfly Designs, which does web design work and provides graphic design services.

Her addition to Craig's campaign "will add both generational and gender balance to the ticket,"Ā The Washington PostĀ reported, noting that he is 64 and she is 36.

According toĀ WJZ,Ā Craig is expected to announce Haddaway-Riccio as his running mate in a pair of press conferences on Tuesday, July 16, in Annapolis and St. Michaels.
