Barack Obama Watches Michelle's Speech: 5 Things 9/5
The Democrats have begun the quadriennal praising of themselves.

1. Democratic National Convention - Michelle Obama took the stage late night at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday and wowed the pundits. John Cassidy of The New Yorker said this about her speech:
Combining personal testimonials (“I love my husband even more that I did four years ago”) with behind-the-scenes details from the White House (the President “strategizing over middle-school friendships” with his daughters) and Reaganesque rhetoric (“never forget that doing the impossible is the history of this nation”), she threw off the cloak of domesticity that she has been wearing for the past three and a half years and emerged as a major figure in her own right.

But the best part may have come from a picture that was released afterwards of Barack Obama and his two daughters watching Michelle deliver the speech from the comfort of a White House couch.

3. Dead Animal Trial - The trial of Elizabeth Lindenau, the woman charged with 40 counts of animal cruelty after 40 dead birds, cats and rabbits were found in her Columbia townhouse is in full swing. It has been in full swing since Aug. 22, making it a long trial. In a comment on Patch, user Matt Wilson wrote, "Normal people don't have 21 dead animals in their freezer. Normal people don't have 40+ animals to begin with. Normal people don't abandon a house because a neighbor complained." These people may not be normal, but justice should be served. It's interesting that the state has focused so much on Lindenau (arresting, charging and trying her first) even though her husband took the stand, said it was his fault, said his wife wasn't living there and . On Tuesday, to the court she didn't even know the animals had died until the police raided the home on Jan. 16... So, why is the state not trying him now?
4. Featured Blog Post - Wordbones on Salugen: Dennis Lane, author of the Tales of Two Cities Blog, has been in a public disagreement with Board of Education member Brian Meshkin over his private business dealings. It boils down to this: Lane thinks Meshkin has trumped up his successful business claims when his businesses haven't been successful. This past weekend, Lane took a look into Meshkin's old company Salugen, check it out here.
5. Today is National Be Late for Something Day - That is according to this website that lists "national days." I will not be celebrating because I don't like to be late for anything. Have a good Wednesday!
