Fire Breaks Out At Paper Shredding Business In Columbia: Official

A fire was sparked by a paper shredding machine at a Columbia business that specializes in paper shredding.

A fire broke out around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday at Shred-It, which is located at 6770 Oak Hall Lane. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Maryland Office of the Fire Marshal.

COLUMBIA, MD — This week, a paper shredding machine inside Shred-It caught fire. The fire broke out around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday at the business, which is located at 6770 Oak Hall Lane.

Crews arrived on the scene to find the single-story commercial building with smoke pouring out. Officials stated that the fire was kept in check by a sprinkler system and traced to a paper shredding machine. It took firefighters around 30 minutes to get the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Maryland Office of the Fire Marshal.
