Howard County Firefighter Injured, 6 People And 2 Pets Displaced In House Fire

A Howard County firefighter was injured battled a blaze that displaced five adults, one child and two pets Saturday in Elkridge.

Around 6:20 p.m., Howard Co. firefighters received a call about a house fire in the 5600 block of Furnace Avenue in Elkridge. Crews arrived on the scene to find fire pouring from the second floor. Firefighters gained control of the fire within 15 minutes.

ELKRIDGE, MD — Five adults, one child and two cats have been displaced after their home caught on fire Saturday. One firefighter was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Around 6:20 p.m., Howard County firefighters received a call about a house fire in the 5600 block of Furnace Avenue in Elkridge. Crews arrived on the scene to find fire pouring from the second floor. Firefighters gained control of the fire within 15 minutes, according to the Howard County Fire Department.

Mutual aid was provided by Baltimore and Anne Arundel Counties and BWI Fire & Rescue. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Office of the Fire Marshal.
