A summer-like warm-up is on its way to the Baltimore area this weekend, but will the mild temperatures stick around for trick-or-treaters?

MARYLAND — A summer-like warm-up is on its way to the Baltimore-DC region for the weekend, but the mild temperatures won't stick around for trick-or-treaters.

Conditions through the week are expected to remain warm and dry in the region, with highs in the mid- to high-70s predicted through Friday. It will get increasingly warmer as the week progresses, with temperatures reaching as much as 20 degrees over average for late October.

The National Weather Service expects sunshine and a high of up to 84 degrees on Saturday and 79 degrees on Sunday, in the Baltimore area. The average high for late October in the area is in the low 60s.

Records will be challenged across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic over the coming days, according to AccuWeather. Even places like Baltimore will experience record-challenging temperatures from Thursday to Saturday, forecasters said.

Temperatures will quickly return to the seasonal norm in the Mid-Atlantic, however. Forecasters with AccuWeather say that a cold front early next week will bring a "notable drop" in temperatures.

"The mild conditions that millions will experience this week across the Northeast will likely be a distant memory early next week," AccuWeather meteorologist Brandon Buckingham said.

Forecasters say that a cold front is expected to pass through the region early next week to bring a notable drop in temperature.

By Monday, the high will be in the upper 60s to low 70s, with temperatures only peaking in the low to mid-50s by Tuesday, which is Halloween.

Halloween is expected to be a chilly and dry night for trick-or-treaters. Lows on Tuesday night will dip into the low 40s to upper 30s. The current forecast shows conditions are expected to be dry.
