HCPSS Dance Teacher To Receive 2024 Outstanding Arts Educator Howie Award
An HCPSS dance and fine arts instructional team leader has been named a recipient of the 2024 Outstanding Arts Educator Howie Award.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A Centennial High School dance teacher and fine arts instructional team leader has been chosen to receive the 2024 Outstanding Arts Educator Howie Award by the Howard County Arts Council.
Rebecca Clark was chosen based on her contributions to and impact on the artistic life of Howard County through the arts, arts education and support of the arts, according to HCPSS.
“Mrs. Clark consistently goes above and beyond for our performing arts department, supporting both staff and students, as well as the entire Howard County dance community,” said Centennial High School Principal Dr. Joelle Miller. “She creates so many opportunities for her students, from running a student showcase where the students choreograph and express their own dance, to a Dancing with the Staff event where the students have to teach a staff member and dance with them. She provides student choice and brings her students’ cultures into her lessons.”
