Vote Today For Maple The Hedgehog From HoCo Who Hopes To Become Cadbury's Next Bunny

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Nothing says Easter like a hedgehog, right?

Cadbury, the maker of yummy chocolate Easter eggs, has for several years picked animals other than rabbits to serve as its Easter bunny. This year, a hedgehog from Maryland is one of the contenders.

Voting is open through March 22 and a Howard County hedgehog has a shot to become the next Cadbury Bunny. Maple, who lives in Highland, has made it all the way to the final rounds, becoming one of ten finalists in the nationwide "bunny tryouts."

The African pygmy hedgehog is almost three years old and has more than 10,600 followers on Instagram, where fans can see her adventures and oooh over her adorableness. The photo her owner submitted for the contest can be found on her official page along with numerous other cute pics complete with props.

According to her owner, Maple "loves spending her time spreading love and living carefree. A tiny bit of her left front tooth shows when she smiles, and many things make her smile such as cuddles or a piece of watermelon. Maple has many pointy quills and stays on point with making everybody feel loved. The more people who can see her means all the more who will feel her joy she manages to share through a picture."
