Howard County High School Band Named 2024 U.S. Bands National Champion

A Howard County H.S. band was first named the 2024 U.S. Bands Maryland State Champion then went on to win the national title.

Competing against 23 bands from Maryland and Virginia, the Marriotts Ridge High School marching band placed first and achieved the highest score in its class at the state level then went on to win the national championship.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Marriotts Ridge High School’s marching band not only was named the 2024 U.S. Bands Maryland State Champion but went on to win the national championship.

Competing against 23 bands from Maryland and Virginia, the MRHS marching band placed first and achieved the highest score in its class at the state championship. They also set a school record for achieving the highest score in marching band competitions in the school’s history, according to the Howard County Public School System.

As the Maryland State Champion, the MRHS marching band advanced to the U.S. Bands National Championship held at Birney Crum stadium in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Nov. 3 where they placed first in Class 5A competition and achieved the highest score of all the Class 4 and 5 bands. The group also set another school record for the highest score achieved in a marching band competition.

The group placed first in Class 5A competition against other bands from Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey. They now are the 2024 U.S. Bands Group 5A National Champion.
