HoCo STEM Festival Aims to Get Kids Excited About Science, Tech Fields

How about spending your Sunday afternoon with your kids talking with meteorologists, astronomers and biologists?
This weekend the Committee to Enhance Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) will be hosting a STEM festival at Howard Community College that features a wide range of presentations and discussions about science and technology fields.

Organizations that will be sharing information include the Spaceflight Institute, Howard Astonomical League, University of Maryland Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, National Security Administration and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

There is no charge to attend the festival, which is being held to excite students and parents about careers in STEM, according to organizers.
The event takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. in Duncan Hall at Howard Community College in Columbia.
About 500 to 1,000 people are expected to attend the festival, according to a statement sent out by the organizers.
