Howard County Starts Biosolids Elimination Project
The project at Little Patuxent Wastewater Reclamation plant will aim to reduce biosolids volume and will begin on Feb. 20.

From Howard County Public Works: A Howard County utility construction project at the Little Patuxent Wastewater Reclamation Plant at 8900 Greenwood Place in Savage is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, February 20. A biosolids processing facility will be constructed for the purposes of meeting new Maryland Department of the Environment biosolids storage and disposal regulations. The addition will aid in reducing biosolids volume and in enhancing biosolids quality for end-use purposes. Biosolids are treated sewage sludge that meet the United States Environmental Protection Agency pollutant and pathogen requirements for land application and surface disposal. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by June 2020.
