Krav Maga Maryland Celebrates 20 Years Of Teaching Self-Defense To Residents
Krav Maga Maryland opened in 2005 with a goal of helping others become more aware, empowered and capable of defending themselves.
COLUMBIA, MD — After 9/11, Dave Buscher felt compelled to help others become more aware, empowered and capable of defending themselves, so he started Krav Maga Maryland in Columbia.
The business launched in 2005, offering self-defense classes, fitness classes, Byrna technology, MD wear and carry course, and personal protection courses.
"Our Krav Maga self-defense classes are highly sought after due to their practical, real-world applications. Students learn effective techniques that can be applied in various self-defense situations, helping them feel more confident and prepared," Jeremy Robbins with Krav Maga Maryland told Patch. "Opening the business was his (Dave) way of contributing to the safety and well-being of others by offering practical, real-world self-defense training. His goal was to ensure that people had access to the knowledge and confidence needed to face whatever challenges life may bring."

Robbins, CEO and chief instructor at Krav Maga Maryland, told Patch that clients come from a diverse range of backgrounds, all sharing a common interest in personal safety, self-defense and fitness, Robbins said.
"Many are professionals, parents and students seeking practical skills for protection or aiming to improve their physical fitness and mental resilience. We also serve a significant number of women who participate in our specialized self-defense courses, along with military personnel, law enforcement officers and first responders looking to enhance their tactical skills," Robbins noted. "Our customer base includes men and women of various age groups, particularly those in their 30s to 50s, along with younger adults and teens interested in self-defense training. Families also play a key role in our community, with parents enrolling their children in youth classes while participating in training themselves."
