Learn More About Project To Replace Furnace Avenue Bridge Spanning Deep Run

County leaders will hold a meeting next month to discuss a project to replace the Furnace Avenue Bridge spanning Deep Run.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The Howard County Department of Public Works will hold a community outreach meeting Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. at the Anne Arundel County Public Library’s Linthicum Library to discuss a project to replace the existing Furnace Avenue bridge over Deep Run that connects Howard County to Anne Arundel County.

Currently in 30 percent design phase, the proposed project will include the replacement of the existing steel beam bridge with a new concrete bridge, as well as the installation of new traffic barriers and improvements to the roadway approach within the project limits.

The project is scheduled to begin in fall 2027 and weather permitting, is expected to be completed by fall 2028.

The meeting will include a formal presentation by the project’s design engineering firm, Whitman Requardt and Associates, including a discussion on the proposed detour as the Furnace Avenue bridge will be closed during construction. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.
