Mail Carrier Robbed At Gunpoint + Exxon Employee Assaulted + Delivery Driver Robbed: HCPD

Police reported the armed robbery of a mail carrier, the assault of an Exxon employee, the robbery of a food delivery driver and more.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A mail carrier on the job was robbed at gunpoint in Columbia while a food delivery driver was robbed while delivering food in Ellicott City, according to Howard County Police.

On Nov. 8 around 3:50 p.m., a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier who was on her route in the 6500 block of Pennacook Court was approached by two men who pulled out a handgun and demanded she give them her keys. The postal service employee turned over her keys and the suspects took off. No one was injured, according to police.

The next day at 6:30 p.m., a food delivery driver in the 3100 block of West Springs Drive in Ellicott City reported two men approached him, displayed a weapon and demanded he hand over the food. The suspects took off with the food but police apprehended them. Two 15-year-old boys from Ellicott City were arrested and charged with armed robbery and assault.

In related police news, on Nov. 10 around 10:43 p.m., a man reported three suspects broke into his vehicle that was parked in the 7200 block of Alden Way in Hanover. When he confronted them, one suspect pulled out a weapon and demanded the keys to the vehicle. The man turned over the keys and the suspects took off in a 2015 white Jeep Cherokee SRT, tags MD/ 9GH6901, according to police.

On Nov. 11 around 1:10 a.m., an employee at the Exxon in Laurel reported two men walked into the store, assaulted her then took tobacco products with them before leaving. No serious injuries were reported, police said.

At 1 p.m. Nov. 11, a man told police that a group of suspects approached him, pulled out weapons and stole his phone and wallet. The incident happened in the 8700 block of Cloudleap Court, according to police.

In the overnight hours Nov. 10-11, a suspect(s) broke a window and climbed into the Dunkin Donuts located in the 7100 block of Columbia Gateway Drive in Columbia, then stole money. Police discovered broken windows at two nearby businesses - Violet Nail Salon and R&L Crab Co., but it wasn't clear if anything had been stolen.

Also in the overnight hours Nov. 10-11, a suspect(s) broke a front window at Roggenart Bakery located in the 6400 block of Dobbin Center Way in Columbia and stole money. A police officer found a broken window at nearby Qdoba Mexican Eats but nothing was reported stolen there.

Hip Hop Chicken reported being broken into in the overnight hours of Nov. 10-11. A suspect(s) broke a window, climbed in and stole money. Police believe the suspect(s) also attempted to break into All Saints Liquors and Subway, all located in the 9100 block of All Saints Road in Laurel.
