A 47-year-old man has been sentenced for drug trafficking out of a Laurel hotel, according to the Howard Co. Office of the State's Attorney.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A 47-year-old Laurel man has been sentenced in connection to his role in a drug trafficking crime, prosecutors say.

On June 15, 2023, Jamaal Keitt sold cocaine to two undercover detectives. On June 21, 2023, Howard County Police officers served a search and seizure warrant at a motel located in the 9900 block of Washington Boulevard in Laurel where Keitt was placed under arrest. Inside his motel room officers found money, drug paraphernalia and a handgun with a box of ammunition, prosecutors said.

The motel-room stash house Keitt was distributing out of was discovered through the investigative efforts of the Howard County Police Department’s Vice and Narcotics Unit. Keitt was on probation for two prior convictions of possession with the intent to distribute. He has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the use of a firearm in a drug trafficking crime, the maximum penalty for that charge.
