National Night Out Events in Columbia Tuesday

COLUMBIA, MD — National Night Out, an annual community-building event celebrated in hundreds of neighborhoods across the country, will be held Tuesday in several Howard County communities, with a kick-off event in Laurel.

Residents will turn on the front porch light to support policing efforts and crime reduction in their neighborhoods. Many of these communities will hold cookouts, street parties and other events, with the support of local law enforcement.

The kick-off party will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Emerson, 8400 Upper Sky Way in Laurel.
