Little Oak Nursery School will be based out of Friendship Baptist Church in Sykesville and is accepting applications now for the fall.
SYKESVILLE, MD — A preschool has set up inside Friendship Baptist Church and is accepting applications for students for the upcoming school year.
Little Oak Nursery School will be based out of the church located at 1391 Sykesville Road. Under the leadership of director Amy Schroeder, Little Oak Nursery School offers a "nurturing, play-based environment" for children aged two to five.
"Our state-approved curriculum emphasizes hands-on exploration, fostering curiosity, imagination and growth across social, emotional, cognitive and academic domains. With a team of experienced educators dedicated to early childhood development, we are committed to supporting each child's unique learning journey," Schroeder told Patch.

In January, Howard County Executive Ball announced a $1 million investment to create a competitive capital grant program to provide funding for new childcare centers, repairs and expansions. Twenty-seven childcare providers, including centers and home daycares, received grants ranging from $12,000 to $165,000.
"Howard County’s strong commitment to the value and importance of early childhood education makes the timing and location of our new school especially significant. Located in western Howard County—an area often considered a child care desert in the county—this new preschool will help fill a critical gap by offering families access to high-quality early learning opportunities closer to home," Schroeder added. "We are overjoyed to have found a place where our littlest learners can take root and grow strong.
