Snow Impacts Howard County Schools Schedule For Dec. 15
Howard County Public Schools officials have altered the school schedule for Monday, Dec. 15, due to a weekend snowstorm.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — School officials announced Sunday that buildings will open two hours late due to a weekend snowstorm that brought upwards of six inches of snow to some areas of the state.
School officials said Sunday afternoon that they will reevaluate conditions by 7:30 a.m. and will communicate any change in status. Because of the two-hour late start, school bus pick up times will be two hours later than usual, officials explained.
All morning childcare programs in HCPSS schools, sponsored by the Columbia Association and the Howard County Department of Recreation & Parks, will be delayed two hours.

All morning sessions of half-day pre-kindergarten and RECC are canceled.
There will be no morning ARL classes. ARL afternoon classes will be held in accordance with the ARL delayed opening schedule.

If Howard Community College is open as scheduled, HCPSS students who are enrolled at HCC and cannot attend due to a lack of transportation should notify their professors using their MyHCC email or Canvas, the school district stated.
According to the National Weather Service, these Howard County communities received the following snowfall amounts:
- Gaither 4.6
- Marriottsville 4.5
- West Friendship 3.8
- Simpsonville 3.0
- Dayton 2.5
- Historic Ellicott City 2.3
- Elkridge 2.0
