Nominate Businesses, Groups, Schools For Howard County Environmental Awards By Friday

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — There are just a few days left to submit nominations for Howard County's Business Recycling and Waste Reduction and Green Community Leadership awards.

The deadline for nominations is 5 p.m. Friday.

“As our county continues to implement impactful programs that are reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, amplifying our energy-independence, preserving our land and protecting our environment, this annual awards program recognizes those businesses who are stepping up to the challenge of going green,” said Howard County Executive Calvin Ball. “Whether it is reducing plastic waste, educating the environmental advocates of the future or putting shovels in the ground to plant trees, these environmental leaders are showing us all that meaningful change can come from all around us through their actions, dedication and efforts to create a clean and energy independent environment.”

The Business Recycling and Waste Reduction Award recognizes Howard County businesses for their efforts during the 2024 calendar year. The Green Community Leadership Award recognizes a Howard County-based community group, school or organization that demonstrates efforts, projects or programs that help protect Howard County’s natural environment and preserve its resources. This award is open to community groups, schools and organizations that are based in Howard County.

Awards will be presented at the 18th annual Howard County GreenFest April 12 at Howard Community College.
