HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Howard County's parks and recreation department is seeking nominations for its 2020 Community Sports Hall of Fame, which are due by April 15. The Community Sports Hall of Fame recognizes outstanding individuals who have gained prominence in or made substantial contributions to community recreational sports in Howard County.

Coaches, managers, league officials, commissioners and even behind-the-scenes contributors closely identified with community recreational sports can be nominated. In addition, nominees must be either residents of Howard County or have contributed to community sports primarily in Howard County.

“As one of our nation’s ‘Top Ten Healthiest Communities’ according to U.S. News and World Report, we are committed to creating an environment for thriving and healthy residents,” said Howard County Executive Calvin Ball in a statement. “This success is epitomized by our diverse and robust sports and recreation offerings - a result of the tireless dedication of our residents who serve as incredible coaches, mentors, officials, and volunteers. I encourage county residents to nominate these role models to our ‘Community Sports Hall of Fame’ for their positive influence throughout Howard County.”

All nominations must be received or postmarked by April 15 to Mike Blevins at mblevins@howardcountymd.gov or mailed to Howard County Community Sports Hall of Fame,
Attn: Mike Blevins, 7120 Oakland Mills Road, Columbia, MD 21046. Individuals chosen for this year’s class will be inducted into the Community Sports Hall of Fame at the 18th annual Celebration of Sports in October.
