Pet Owners Could Face Fines If Outdoor Animals Aren't Tended To In Howard County
Howard County pet owners could face fines if their outdoor animals aren't properly cared for during frigidly cold weather.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — With below freezing temperatures forecast for the area, the Howard County Police Department and the county animal control and adoption center reminds residents that county law requires animals housed outside must have access to appropriate shelter, bedding and unfrozen water source at all times.
Dogs cannot be tethered outside when not under direct supervision, officials said.
"This means you must be out there with them. Please keep in mind, these requirements are the bare minimum and if it's too cold for you outside, it's probably too cold for your dog or cat," the county animal control and adoption center stated.
