River Hill Athlete Named HoCo Cross Country Runner Of The Year
Senior Anish Nanjappa of River Hill H.S. has been named the 2019 Howard County Times/Columbia Flier boys cross country runner of the year.

CLARKSVIILLE, MD — For the second consecutive year, senior Anish Nanjappa of River Hill High School has been named the 2019 Howard County Times/Columbia Flier boys cross country runner of the year. Nanjappa won all seven races in which he competed and won the 3A state title. He even set a course record during the season.
In 2106 and 2014, a River Hill athlete won the runner of the year award. When a non-Hawk won the honor in 2017, Nanjappa wanted to make sure it came back to River Hill. The always modest athlete made sure of that.
"I want to be the best I can,” Nanjappa told the Baltimore Sun. “I want to use the talents I have and reach my potential. I know in the state, in Maryland, I’m supposedly good. But I know I’m not the fastest in the nation, so I can always improve.”
