Spring Registration For HCYP Softball, Baseball Now Open

Spring registration for HCYP softball and baseball is now open. Players ages five to 18 are eligible to play with the program.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Spring registration for HCYP softball and baseball remains open. The program is designed for ages five through 18.

The HCYP facility at Kiwanis Wallas Park just off Route 40 in Ellicott City is where the youth will play their games across the 12 fields available.

According to the HCYP website, the spring season begins with practices in March with the older girls' softball teams practicing twice a week and the 8U teams practicing once a week. The regular season generally begins in April and lasts to May or early June. In all leagues -- 8U 10U, 13U, and 17U -- teams play each Saturday. The older leagues other than 8U also play a game during the week. Each team also has a practice each week during the regular season. The spring season ends with a tournament in each of the older leagues over the course of two weeks in June.

For boys international through major teams, the spring season is divided into three parts: pre-season, regular season and the playoffs. The pre-season begins once the drafts are over and the spring maintenance day has prepared the fields for play. The regular season consists of 15 games with one or two during the weekdays and one on Saturdays. A double elimination tournament is scheduled for each league at the end of the season.
