Stream Stabilization Project Starts Monday Along Cape Anne Drive In Columbia

Crews started worked Monday on a stream stabilization project along Cape Anne Drive. Officials do not expect it to affect traffic.

COLUMBIA, MD — A construction project designed to stabilize sections of the Beaver Run stream along Cape Anne Drive between South Carlinda Avenue and Cotton Mill Lane in Columbia started Monday. The project shouldn't affect traffic in the area.

To protect the area’s water and sewer infrastructure, the project includes the installation of riffle grade controls and other fill material to cover the exposed water and sewer lines and stone walls to stabilize the streambank, county officials explained.

Weather permitting, the project should wrap up by mid-December 2025.
