Weather Decision Made By Howard County Public Schools For Jan. 22

Freezing temperatures and icy conditions have prompted Howard County school officials to make a decision about school Jan. 22.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Due to freezing temperatures and overnight refreezing, Howard County Public School System buildings will open two hours late Wednesday, Jan. 22.

High schools were scheduled for an early dismissal, which has been canceled. High school students instead will go in two hours late and schools will dismiss at their regular time of 2:35 p.m., school officials said.

All morning childcare programs in HCPSS schools, sponsored by the Columbia Association and the Howard County Department of Recreation & Parks, will be delayed two hours. Since there isn't half-day pre-kindergarten/RECC on Wednesdays so that program won't be impacted.
