Weis Market Employee Assaulted As Shoplifter Tries To Flee With Unpaid Items: Police

A shopper assaulted a Weis Market employee when attempting to leave with unpaid items, according to Howard County Police.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — An employee at Weis Market was assaulted Sunday when the worker tried to stop a woman who was leaving the store with unpaid merchandise.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. Sept. 1 at Weis Market located in the 9200 block of Washington Blvd. in Laurel. According to the Howard County Police, the suspect assaulted the store employee before leaving the store.

In other crime-related news, someone entered a construction site located in the 10200 block of Guilford Road in Jessup in the overnight hours of Aug. 31-Sept. 1. Various items were stolen from the construction site. In the overnight hours of Sept. 2-3, a suspect forced entry into O Smoke, located in the 9000 block of Frederick Road, and stole vape products.

Two houses were broken into in Clarksville and Columbia recently. According to Howard County Police, a suspect(s) entered a house located in the 5400 block of Trotter Road through a rear window Aug. 30 from noon to 2:30 p.m. Nothing was reported stolen. In the overnight hours on Aug. 31-Sept. 1, a suspect(s) attempted to enter a home located in the 5700 block of Harpers Farm Road in Columbia.
