Woman Killed After SUV Hits Guard Rail, Concrete Barrier, Then Hit By Another SUV: HCPD

A Columbia woman has died after police say her vehicle hit a guard rail, then a concrete barrier, then was hit by an oncoming SUV.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A 39-year-old Columbia woman has died after police say she was involved in a car crash in the early morning hours Aug. 2.

At approximately 2:20 a.m., a 2013 Ford Explorer was heading westbound on Route 32 when it hit the slow shoulder guard rail, crossed over three lanes of Route 32 and hit the concrete barrier on the opposite side. A 2023 Honda HR-V that was heading westbound on Route 32 then hit the disabled vehicle.

The driver of the Ford Explorer, Toni Williams, was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where she was pronounced dead. The driver and passenger of the Honda HR-V were uninjured.

Route 32 westbound from I-95 was closed for approximately three hours in the overnight. The investigation is ongoing.
