A boy from Maryland who fell into a pool aboard the Anthem of the Seas cruise ship Thursday was airlifted from the boat to a New York hospital in critical condition, according to reports.

The 8-year-old had been underwater for several minutes before he was found in the pool around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, and a medical professional was able to establish a pulse by performing CPR, the New York Daily News reported. >>> Read more.

A small fire that broke out at a church in Darlington Thursday morning was related to a painting project, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
Painters had been prepping Darlington United Methodist Church when they saw smoke at 8:53 a.m. At the time, workers had been using a heat gun to strip away siding. The fire marshal, who ruled the blaze accidental, said the heat gun caused a nail to ignite wood behind the siding. >>> Read more.
