A Blue Moon Rises Over Edgemere
Tuesday night's Blue Moon was what is known as a seasonal Blue Moon, defined as the third full moon in any given season.

As many of you know, last night's full moon was a seasonal Blue Moonβdefined as the third full moon in a single season (in this case, summer, or from the summer solstice to the fall equinox).
A monthly Blue Moon occurs when there are two full moons in a single month, as occurred in Aug. 2012.
I took this photo of last night's Blue Moon from my backyard on the North Point peninsula.
Edgemere resident Paul Denbow captured this image of the moon as seen through the goal posts at Sparrows Point High School.
