2. From history.com's This Day in History: From history.com's This Day in History: "On this day in 2002, the rusty iron gun turret of the U.S.S. Monitor broke from the water and into the daylight for the first time in 140 years. The ironclad warship was raised from the floor of the Atlantic, where it had rested since it went down in a storm off Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, during the Civil War. Divers had been working for six weeks to bring it to the surface."
3. Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum: B-26 aircraft pilot Leon Shulman is the August guest speaker in the museum's free aviation speaker series. The talk will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Lockheed Martin Auditorium on the Lockheed Martin Campus, 2323 Eastern Blvd.
4. Tuesday, Aug. 6: Hawthorne Annual National Night Out, begins at 5:30 p.m. at Hawthorne Elementary School.
5. Ultimate Watersports will hold a singles paddle tour from Gunpowder State Park, 7400 Graces Quarters Road. After the tour, the crowd will gather at Sunset Cove, a waterfront restaurant in Bowleys Quarters.
