New Year’s Day is one of several holidays that usually affect the hours of government offices, libraries, public transportation, garbage pickup and other services in Baltimore County.
To help you plan, here’s a roundup of what’s open and what’s closed on New Year’s Eve and New Year's Day in the area:

- Baltimore County government offices closed New Year's Eve
- Baltimore County Department of Health and Human Services COVID-19 vaccination clinics and testing sites closed New Year's Eve
- CountyRide van service not operating New Year's Eve

- Towson Loop service and County parking meters will operate as scheduled on New Year's Eve
- No trash, recycling or yard materials collection on New Year's Day. Residents with Saturday trash collection should hold their material until their next scheduled trash collection day. Collection schedules for the remainder of 2021 are available on the Bureau of Solid Waste Management's website and the free BaltCoGo mobile app. On New Year's Eve, all scheduled collections will operate as scheduled and all drop-off centers will be open with normal operating hours.
