103 Maryland Commute Times Ranked First to Worst

U.S. Census surveys looked at the time it takes to get to work for 103 communities. We've ranked the trips from first to worst.

The commute was better than normal for the last two weeks, as students and many commuters took some time off around the holidays. Starting this week, we'll be back to creeping along on our way to work.

In the latest American Community Survey, the U.S. Census Bureau asked questions on more than 40 topics and compiled the results over the last five years. Questions included commute times for residents in dozens of communities in Maryland.

At the top, residents on base at Aberdeen Proving Ground and Fort Meade had the shortest commutes at 13 minutes and 17 minutes, respectively. The average commute time in Maryland is 32 minutes, according to census estimates.
