2nd Person in 4 Days Pulled from South River

For the , police found a person in the South River that apparently jumped from the South River Bridge late Monday night.

According to Anne Arundel County Fire Chief Michael Cox, police officers pulled a man from the water, who survived the fall and only suffered minor injuries. Firefighters responded to the call around 11:48 p.m. Monday. Police were already at the scene and the man was already out of the water, Cox said.

The Capital first reported that police arrived at the bridge after witnesses claimed they saw a man in the river. Officers then found a Nissan Altima parked atop the bridge, according to The Capital.

The incident comes just a few days after in similar fashion around 7 a.m. Friday. Cox said when firefighters pulled the woman from the water, she was unconscious, unresponsive and not breathing.

Police also found an unoccupied car parked on the bridge, Anne Arundel County police spokesman Justin Mulcahy told Patch on Friday.

Janice Riston, a close friend of the woman police found in the river Friday, told Patch her friend died on Friday and that the family is in the process of planning a memorial to take place on the South River Bridge.

“She was basically like a sister to me,” Riston said. 

Mulcahy told The Capital he was unable to provide an update on the woman’s condition on Tuesday morning.

Mulcahy did not respond to Patch's request to confirm the information provided by Riston.
