Annapolis Man Fatally Shot At Edgewater Restaurant, Suspect Arrested: Police

An Annapolis man was fatally shot at an Edgewater restaurant, police said. Officers arrested the suspect.

EDGEWATER, MD — An Annapolis man was fatally shot this weekend at an Edgewater restaurant, county police said.

Officers identified the victim as Luis Santiago, 26. Authorities also said they arrested the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Alex Salinas of Annapolis.

Police heard about the shooting on Saturday, just after midnight. Officers said they found the victim suffering from what seemed like a single gunshot wound at Los Chaparritos Authentic Latin Food, located at 3029 Solomons Island Road.

Authorities gave first aid until medics arrived and took the victim to an unidentified hospital, where police said the man died from his injuries.

Officers said they learned about a potential suspect referred to as "Alex" while conducting preliminary interviews with many witnesses.

Authorities found and interviewed "Alex." Officers said they arrested and charged him accordingly based on that interview and supporting evidence from the scene.

Even though authorities already made an arrest, the Anne Arundel County Police Department still asked anybody with information to call the homicide unit at (410) 222-4731. Tipsters can stay anonymous by dialing (410) 222-4700.

This was the second recent attack at the restaurant. A male was stabbed and hospitalized there on Nov. 20, authorities said.

Police did not speculate on whether these two incidents are related.
