Tommy Clack, the man convicted last year in a pavement scam targeting residents in Maryland and North Carolina, has been indicted on federal charges for allegedly filing false tax returns.
ABC2 reports Clack, who is still serving a prison sentence in Maryland related to the scam, allegedly underreported his income and made false statements on a loan application. Prosecutors in the Middle District of North Carolina offer documents in court records that show Clack making substantially more in his paving business than he claimed, according to the report.
The case was originally filed in June 2012, according to federal court records.
Clack's attorney referenced the case during a Howard County hearing where Clack was requesting a reduced sentence. Clack has also been sentenced to two years on a Baltimore County conviction of acting as a contractor without a license. That verdict is being appealed.
