Community Can Meet Southern Police District's New Captain
Capt. Michelle Simpson is set to attend the Anne Arundel Police Community Relations Council's meeting in Edgewater on Thursday.
Members of the community will have a chance to meet the newly appointed captain of the Southern District Police Station this Thursday as part of the Police Community Relations Council’s monthly gathering in Edgewater.
A local school resource officer (SRO) also is set to speak to the citizens in the meeting that focuses on reducing crime and improving police-community relationships.
Council members gather on the third Thursday of each month to meet with police officials, discuss various topics and ultimately inform the public on new laws or adjustments.

On Thursday, the newly appointed captain of the Southern District Police Station, Capt. Michelle Simpson, will briefly meet members of the south county community before a local SRO talks to the council. Simpson, a 22-year veteran of the police department, recently graduated from the FBI National Academy.
She worked several years in the criminal investigations division and served most recently as the executive officer of the northern district, according to a police press release.

Located at 36 Stepney’s Ln. in Edgewater, all citizens are invited to attend the local gathering at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
