Update: Body of Missing Man Recovered Near Churchton

Rescue crews have recovered the body of the missing man in the Churchton area Tuesday morning.

Maryland Department of Natural Resources spokesperson Sgt. Brian Albert said the body of Thomas Brown, 20, was recovered around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Franklin Manor area along the Chesapeake Bay.

A search for Brown began around 3:30 p.m. Monday. A group of friends was with Brown at the Franklin Manor Pier when they told police he jumped off the pier to retrieve a hat that had blown off into the water. According to Albert, after Brown jumped into the water he disappeared and never resurfaced.

Albert said Brown’s body is being taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
