Davidsonville Goats To Pitch In at Cleanup

The animals will be helping to remove phragmites from Lake Claire in Broadneck.

A pair of local goats will help clear an invasive species of grass in Cape St. Claire on Sunday.

The goats are courtesy of Eco-Goats, a Davidsonville-based company that uses goats as an environmentally friendly way of clearing overgrown areas.

The animals will be helping to remove phragmites from Lake Claire, where they are infringing on the local environment, said Kathleen Mooneyhan, who is helping organize the Sunday cleanup.

"We've been battling invasive phragmites in a number of cleanups," Mooneyhan said. "But these goats are just a great visual for the kids and families to come and see how nature's supposed to work."
