Fire Burns Through Edgewater Home, Draws Nearly 100 Firefighters: Officials
An Edgewater house blaze drew nearly 100 firefighters. Authorities are still investigating what caused the two-alarm fire.

EDGEWATER, MD — A two-alarm blaze burned through an Edgewater home Monday afternoon, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said. Nobody was hurt.
The cause, area of origin and estimated dollar loss are all still under investigation.
The owners and occupants called 911 around 12:30 p.m. and reported that flames on the back deck forced them to evacuate their two-story, single-family home.

Crews said they arrived in the 100 block of Wallace Manor Road and found fire extending through the roof, which was eventually burned completely off.
The Grasonville Volunteer Fire Department said it docked its fireboat at a nearby pier on Gingerville Creek and pumped creekwater to the shore to supplement the water available on land.

A team of 96 firefighters said it controlled the flames in about 95 minutes.
The AACoFD said some of the firefighters came from the Annapolis Fire Department and the Naval Support Activity Annapolis Fire Department.
Baltimore Gas and Electric also turned out.
Anne Arundel County Crisis Response and the American Red Cross Southern Maryland chapter are assisting the family.

The home had smoke detectors, investigators said.
