Edgewater Man Arrested, Accused Of Injuring NYPD Detective In Shooting Crossfire: Report
An Edgewater resident was arrested and accused of injuring a detective in the crossfire of a New York City shooting, a report said.
BROOKLYN, NY — An Edgewater resident was recently arrested and accused of injuring a New York City Police Department detective in the crossfire of a shooting earlier this year, the New York Daily News reported. Journalist Thomas Tracy identified the arrestee as 27-year-old Jah-Mike Woolridge, who lived in New York at the time of the shooting and moved to Maryland recently.
The Daily News said Woolridge was shooting at a romantic rival on a Brooklyn street on June 23 when the detective, Sunjay Verma, drove a marked cruiser through the crossfire with his partner. One of the bullets shattered Verma's driver's side window, and the broken glass cut him.
The Daily News said authorities arrested Woolridge in Maryland on Wednesday and brought him back to New York City, where he faces charges of attempted murder and assault.
