Fireworks Coming to Rhode River This Saturday
Here's everything you need to know about Saturday's fireworks display, taking place to celebrate Labor Day.

In honor of Labor Day, Edgewater resident Harry Basiliko and the crew of Fireworks for All have scheduled a celebratory display to light up the south county sky on Saturday.
The reflections of explosive fireworks are set to scatter across the Rhode River at about 8:30 p.m. as the community event brings residents and boaters to the local waterway.
Anne Arundel County Councilman and West/Rhode Riverkeeper Chris Trumbauer (D-6th District) shared a photo with Patch capturing a special message from Basiliko to the community, discussing his plans for Saturday's show.

Dear friends and neighbors,

It’s that time of year again when we begin to plan our Rhode River Fireworks Display, which is scheduled for Saturday … with rain dates of Sept. 2 and Sept. 3. We will do everything within our power to geth the show off in its entirety (beginning approximately 8:30 p.m.) on Sept. 1. If there is a wind or thunderstorm delay, the regulations prohibit us from shooting after 10:30 p.m., which is why we have the two rain dates listed.
We will be shooting off a barge directly off Marker #7, as it appears to be an ideal spot for all our neighbors. We will again shoot the show at our cost and we are very grateful for the many volunteers we have year after year. Many costs cannot be avoided however, including fireworks themselves, transportation and truck rental costs, insurance, hiring the Department of Natural Resources to patrol, feeding the crew (many of who come in from surrounding states), as well as the fireworks permits and any costs that may be associated with the barge.
The community is again asking for donations from our residents, and Sonny Willet, Kerri Flaherty, Abbie Cannon and Kate Wilborn have agreed to go door-to-door to shoe who live within the site of the fireworks display. Or, if it is more convenient for you, a donation can be sent by mail at the address listed below. Needless to say, the more neighbors that donate, the bigger the display will be.
If you would like to donate, please make your check payable to: Fireworks For All Occasions. All monies collected will be kept in a separate account and will be returned to you if enough support cannot be generated. We can’t wait to light up the Rhode River in celebration of Labor Day on Saturday!
Sincerely,
Harry Basiliko — “The Fuse”
