Fisher's Famous Hot Dogs Return After Weeklong Absence

The popular hot dog cart's owner said he and his wife needed a weeklong break to enjoy some "family time."

Last week, several Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch readers expressed their disappointment because the was nowhere to be found.

However, those frowns can be turned upside down now that Brian Fisher will be back in the cart this week starting Tuesday, offering up fresh and delicious Davdisondogs, Edgewieners and a lot more.

Coincidentally, it was those same motivations that led him to close the hot dog stand last week.

Fisher and his wife spend hours inside the cart every day and when the hours add up, the owner said he just wanted a week to himself with his wife and kids. Prior to leaving, he gave customers a quick heads-up on his Facebook page.

"Fisher's Famous will be closed next week as the entire staff (of two) head to the beach for much needed family time. I'll be sure to bring back hermit crabs for everyone," he said.

The local business has enjoyed quick success, but it hasn't come without its hiccups.

In June, Fisher's wife Kerri—his only help at the cart—fell and hurt her ankle, forcing her to stop working in the cart for a few weeks. The injury also forced Fisher to close the business for a weekend.

Following the injury, the food cart received another piece of bad news.

After a few months of operation, Anne Arundel County officials told Fisher he had to get rid of his picnic tables located next to his food cart. Fisher said he was told "mobile units cannot provide seating for customers," something he wasn't too happy about.

"Doesn't seem right to me and I gave it a fight but in the end...no tables," he said on the company's Facebook page.

Despite the setbacks, Fisher's Famous is slowly but surely becoming a staple along Route 214, located at 77 West Central Ave., Edgewater, just down the street from .

Traditionally, the hot dog cart is open from noon-4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
