Friends Say Father, Daughter Jumped from South River Bridge

A man suffered minor injuries from his fall on Monday, but officials have not confirmed the condition of the woman who apparently jumped from the bridge Friday.

The man who is the father of the 28-year-old woman who did the same just four days prior, according to sources close to the family.

Janice Riston and Jackie Hammel, both “extremely close” friends of the woman who apparently jumped off the bridge Friday morning, told Patch that their friend’s father was the man who police pulled from the South River just before midnight Monday evening.

Friends of the from the South River Bridge on Friday said that she died, but Anne Arundel County police spokesman Justin Mulcahy did not respond to Patch’s request to confirm that information.

Riston and Hammel both spoke with the man and said he’s recuperating well and should be released from Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) in Annapolis soon.

Patch called AAMC and confirmed that the man—whose name was provided by both Riston and Hammel—was in the emergency department of the hospital.

Another family friend and neighbor, Frank Klotz, also told Patch that the two were father and daughter.

“I think I’m still in shock, that’s all I can I say," Riston said.
