Burial of Killed Policeman to Cause 'Major Delays'

Update (10:05 a.m.)—Anne Arundel County police are alerting residents to expect “major delays” and road closures in Davidsonville on Tuesday caused by a burial service for a fallen police officer.

A Prince George’s County police officer, Adrian Morris, 23, was killed last week in a crash while pursuing a suspect on Interstate 95, according to The Washington Post.

Morris' burial is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon after his funeral service in Beltsville, but the thousands of anticipated attendants will cause serious traffic delays throughout the day, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

The primary delays are set to occur on Central Avenue between Route 424 and Queen Anne Bridge Road, police said.

"Eastbound Central Avenue traffic will be allowed to use a limited portion of the roadway, but there will be a large volume of pedestrian traffic at times," according to a police press release. "There will be uniformed Anne Arundel County police officers present to assist eastbound motorists."

Held at at 900 West Central Ave. in Davidsonville, the burial service may clog roads on Central Avenue and surrounding roads from about 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., police said.

Westbound Central Avenue traffic will be detoured to Davidsonville Road, Mt. Airy Road and Patuxent Road, police said.

"At the intersection of Central Avenue and Patuxent River Road, motorists will be allowed to turn left and travel eastbound," according to the release.
