Edgewater Construction Company Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary

ANNAPOLIS, MD — An Edgewater construction company is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this month. The business, Integrity Construction Group, has worked on some of the most popular eateries in Anne Arundel County.

Even after hundreds of projects, owner Terry Egley still maintains an upbeat family atmosphere. Egley even brings her dog to work every day.

What's your most popular product or service?

We are a woman owned and operated commercial general contractor that specializes in commercial tenant fit out work. We have completed multiple restaurants, retail, office space, labs and medical suites.

We work all over Maryland, DC and Virginia but we have been fortunate enough to complete some projects in the Annapolis and Edgewater areas. We did In Grano on Harry S. Truman Parkway, Kerasini Kitchen in the Harbor Center, Youthful Obsessions Spa in South River Colony, the Always Ice cream stores in both Annapolis, on Annapolis Street as well as the one in South River Colony in Edgewater and most recently the Game On Bar-Arcade on West Street in Annapolis.

We are excited to see local businesses growing and most importantly prospering.

What makes your business unique?

What sets us apart from other general contractors is that we care! We care about small businesses; we care about our clients, and we care about their visions and dreams. We do not lose the relationship with the client once the project is done, we support them by using their product, using restaurants for any catering needs and regularly visiting and mentioning them in our media posts. We look out for our clients and as such work tirelessly to save them money and help them grow.

What's something that your customers might not know about your business?

Both of my biological children work with me. I am lucky enough to see my son and daughter every day. At one point in time my stepsons also worked for Integrity, but both have since moved out of state. We are a very family minded company.

When I started the company, I knew that I wanted a name that made a statement. I used the name Integrity as that is a core value that I was raised with. Doing the right thing even when nobody is watching means something. I did not have a logo for the name until I looked at my Great Dane Hoss, he was the epitome of integrity as he never wavered in his unconditional love and respect. Hoss passed away about 5 years ago and I have since gotten a new Great Dane puppy that comes to work with me every day.

Why are you passionate about your business?

We love what we do, and we know that we are lucky to do what we love. I am personally involved in every project that Integrity does. I get a great satisfaction getting involved in a project from the conceptual stage and then building it out to the customer's vision. When a new business opens, I truly enjoy watching their success. We root for our clients and support them fully in any capacity that we can. I am very much a people person and enjoy meeting new people. We are not in this business to get rich; we deserve to earn a profit but most of all our clients deserve an excellent end product.

What else should customers know about your business?

March 2022 marks our 10-year anniversary in business. The company was started at the dining room table of my house. I wore all of the hats from secretary to sales to onsite superintendent.

After a very exhausting year I brought on my first employee, Randi (who is my daughter and now Vice President). The ironic part of that is when I first started in construction my condition of employment was that I could bring my 3-month-old daughter to work with me, technically she has been in the construction business since she was 3 months old. Two years later I was also bringing my son to work.

I started at my first construction job as a secretary, then moved to bookkeeper, office manager and eventually an assistant project manager. I was commuting to Germantown every day and as a single mother going through a horrible divorce, it became too much. I then went to work as a project manager for an exceptional general contractor who I sincerely loved working for. I was there for seven years, where I learned and grew a lot.

I felt that I had gone as far as I could as an employee. My husband truly believed and pushed me to do more, so I decided to start my own business. I was told that as a woman owned construction company people would basically just hand you work, it would be easy. I very quickly learned that was not the case so, with a tenaciousness I set out to find work and clients. I was blessed that I was able to do so and ten years later we have successfully completed hundreds of projects.

We have established an incredibly strong team that hold the same core values as us. They care about how Integrity is represented and as such work harder to maintain our stellar reputation. We do not have employees, everyone is family, blood or not.

What's your favorite thing about Edgewater? I grew up in Edgewater and have a very strong support system there. When we moved the office from Davidsonville to West River the outpouring of support from the area was incredible. In my eyes this town (Annapolis, Edgewater, West River, Deale, Davidsonville etc.) is filled with the absolute best people. We live in an area where people go to vacation, and I consider myself blessed to live here.
