New Sub Shop To Open In Edgewater, Fundraise For Special Olympics

EDGEWATER, MD — Jersey Mike's Subs will open Wednesday in Edgewater's Village at Lee Airpark.

The grand opening will fundraise for 2022 Special Olympics USA Games until Sunday. Customers with a special coupon will get a regular sub when they donate at least $2 to the games. Patrons must have the voucher to be eligible.

Residents can usually find the coupons at businesses and organizations located near the new location, a Jersey Mike's spokesperson told Patch. The vouchers are then handed out grassroots style.

“What drew me to Jersey Mike’s Subs is the strong culture of giving," Franchise Owner John Skeele said in a press release. "It brings us great joy to partner with the Special Olympics USA Games this year. Please join us opening week to help support a great cause and enjoy a sub above.”

Founded in 1956, Jersey Mike's has more than 2,000 locations nationwide. The chain operates four other sites in Anne Arundel County. Those are in Gambrills, Glen Burnie, Hanover and Severna Park.

A job listing on indeed.com said the Edgewater restaurant is hiring at least 10 team members. The eatery is looking for full- and part-time workers. Pay will be $12.50 to $15 per hour, the post said.
