London Towne’s Community Family Week Kicks Off August 10

The 34 annual London Towne Community Family Week will officially kick off on August 10.

Scheduled events and activities will run from August 10 to 18 and will take place around the community. Here's a look at what's on the schedule:

Saturday, August 10 

7 a.m. Fishing and Crabbing Contest begins for kids up to age 15.
The contest will end at noon Sunday, August 18. Sign up at Marty’s (95 Mayo Road) or call 410-956-2238. 

8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Annual Community Flea Market on the Community Hall Grounds (Rain Date: Sunday, August 11) Spaces are available for $20 each, and a limited number of indoor spaces are available for $25 each. Tables are additional $5. Breakfast/Lunch/Refreshments Available: Eat-in or Carry-Out. Reservations at 410-956-4808 

2 to 3:30 p.m. Children's Birthday Party (up to age 7) Entertainment, Games and Prizes, Face painting. Cupcake donations are needed. 

Sunday, August 11 

1:30 p.m. Pet Show  Bring your favorite pets—all kinds of pets and all ages are welcome. Sponsored by Greater South River Animal Hospital - Chair, Jennifer 410-279-4830

4 p.m. Family Fun Festival Food, Games & Prizes, Demonstrations, Information, Cake Wheel, and more. 

5 p.m. Crab Soup Contest

Monday, August 12 

6:30 p.m. Deadline for 6th Annual London Towne Photography Contest--Entries at the Community Hall. See Rules at www.ltpoa.info or contact Pam at 410-956-7679

Friday, August 16 

6:30 p.m. Professional Judging for the 6th Annual Photo Contest—vote for the People’s Choice awards at the Crab Feast 

Saturday August 17

10 a.m. Children's Bike Contest and Mini Parade begins at Beach 5, ends at Beach 3 where refreshments will be served and Awards presented. 

11 a.m. Canoe/Kayak Race and Ramblin' Raft Race at Beach 3. All Rafts must be homemade without inflatable items or motors. Copies of the rules are on the website www.ltpoa.info

11 a.m. Sand Sculpture Contest at Beach 3 check www.ltpoa.info for rules and possibly new games. 

1:30 p.m. Amelia Mott Volleyball Tournament, The Five Beaches will compete for the Trophy. Bring your really tall friends and help your Beach win! Chair, Tom 410-798-4260

Sunday, August 18 

Noon Fishing Contest ends. Awards will be given at the Crab Feast at 1:30 p.m. 

1 to 4 p.m. Crab Feast Doors will open at noon. Door Prizes, Super 50/50 Raffle, Prize Raffles, Cake Wheel, People’s Choice Photo Contest voting, results of professional photo judging announced.
