Marina Fire Destroys Two Boats

It took 27 firefighters to quench the flames early Thursday morning.

A fire completely destroyed two boats and left a third one heavily damaged early Thursday morning at the South River Marina, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department Lt. Keith Hamilton.

Firefighters responded to the marina at 3:48 a.m. to a report of a single boat fire at the end of Pier B on the 100 block of Turkey Point Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found that the fire had extended to a second and third boat, Hamilton said.

“Two of [the boats] were total losses,” and the fire caused “extensive damage to the pier and third boat,” Hamilton told Patch. 

It took 27 firefighters to put out the flames, Hamilton said. The cause and damage estimate from the fire is under investigation.
