Heroin Fatalities Up 185 Percent: Harford Sheriff
Heroin fatalities are spiking in Harford County, where four overdose deaths were recently reported. Governor Larry Hogan declared a state of emergency in Maryland due to the rise in overdose deaths from heroin, particularly due to fentanyl, an opioid that is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine. Some drug users who think they are buying heroin are actually buying the more deadly fentanyl or heroin laced with fentanyl.

73 Pounds Of Marijuana Confiscated On I-95 In Harford County: Police
Two traffic stops on Interstate 95 in Harford County netted more than 70 pounds of marijuana over the course of two days, according to Maryland State Police. Two bales of marijuana, wrapped in a masking agent to cover the scent, were found in the trunk. Weighing nearly 59 pounds, the bales had a potential street value of $260,000.
Left Lane For Passing Only, New Maryland Bill Proposes
The left lane in Maryland could soon be reserved for passing vehicles only, if a bill going through the General Assembly becomes law. The bill applies to roads that have at least three lanes and a speed limit of at least 55 mph. It specifies that drivers may only use the left lane for passing other cars, except if the driver is making a left turn, using a high-occupancy vehicle lane or in traffic where conditions require the use of all lanes. Violators will be issued a penalty fee.
Harford County Farm Fair Extends Run Time For 2017
The Harford County Farm Fair is going to be in town for more than just a few days this year. Organizers announced Wednesday that the fair will operate from Monday, July 24, to Saturday, July 29. This year marks the 30th annual Harford County Farm Fair, a family-friendly celebration of Harford's heritage and agricultural roots.
