Motorcycle Crash In Edgewater Hospitalizes 2, Both Riders Flown To Shock Trauma: Officials

Two motorcycle riders were flown to shock trauma after an Edgewater crash, fire officials said. The bike collided with an SUV.

On 7/21/2023 at 21:20hrs Engine 2-1, Rescue Squad 2, Medic 2, Ambulance 2-9, EMS 3 and Chief 2 was alerted to the 2-14box in the area of Central Ave and Mayo Rd for the reported motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle. Crews arrived on location to find a suv vs motorcycle in the intersection and requested an additional ALS unit adding Medic 1 to the call. Chief 2 assumed Central Avenue command. Upon patient contact command requested aviation for a trauma referral. Engine 3 was requested as an additional unit to handle the landing site at South River High School. Engine 3 and Medic 1 were placed in service while enroute and Engine 2-1 handled the landing site. Upon further consult it was decided to fly both occupants of the motorcycle. Medic 2 and Ambulance 2-9 transported patients to the landing site. Trooper 2 transported 2 patients to Shock Trauma. The driver of the SUV declined any injury. Rescue Squad 2 remained for AAPD Traffic Safety.
