Police Officer Arrested In Domestic Assault Case In Anne Arundel County: Report
A police officer was arrested in a domestic assault case in Anne Arundel County, authorities said. The officer was suspended with pay.

TRACYS LANDING, MD — An Anne Arundel County police officer was arrested in a Tracys Landing domestic assault case, authorities announced Thursday.
Police identified the male suspect as Cpl. H. Hopple, who has been with the department for 16 years. Hopple is currently assigned to the Bureau of Community Services.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department said it suspended Hopple with pay pending an investigation from the Office of Professional Standards. This is normal protocol for accused officers still awaiting the final results of their investigation.

Authorities did not release Hopple's first name either, only his first initial. This is also the standard protocol for accused officers.
Police said they responded to the 6200 block of Solomons Island Road around 10:52 p.m. Wednesday and charged Hopple with second-degree assault soon after.

Maryland court records show the same misdemeanor charge against a 38-year-old Hans Olin Hopple of Tracys Landing on Thursday.
Police said the accused officer pushed a female to the floor. Authorities did not specify the exact relationship between the suspect and the victim.
The victim suffered minor injuries and went to an unidentified hospital, police said.
The Hopple listed in court documents was released on recognizance until his trial, records show.
